How long does a climbing session take?

It depends on what courses they climb and how crowded the facility is. In the children’s course (from 105 cm/age recommendation: min. 4 years) you climb for 90 minutes plus a few minutes. Strap in and briefing. Afterwards you can climb for half an hour in the climbing labyrinth (max. 140 cm and max. 50 kg per person). In the adventure course (from 140 cm/age recommendation: min. 9 years) you have 4 hours including instruction at your disposal. After this period you must then return your climbing harness. If slower climbers or a possible rescue should cause a backlog, you can of course finish your climb. The climbing times are timed so that even slower or timid climbers can complete the kids’ course or the adventure course in the allotted time.

Do I have to have climbing experience?

No, not at all. Our forest climbing parks are aimed at all children, adults and senior citizens with a normal physical condition – you don’t have to be a climber or athlete to join us. Fun, excitement and a light sporting activity in nature are the focus.

What if I’m afraid of heights?

Our forest climbing parks are often visited by people with a fear of heights who want to explore and sometimes overcome their own limits. After the instruction you can choose the courses freely and increase slowly. After a short time, many notice how well and safely they can get through the trees and then venture on to the next course. However, if you notice at the beginning that the climbing is too much for you, you will get your entrance fee back.

Isn’t climbing dangerous?

A visit to a climbing park, like any sporting leisure activity, is always associated with a residual risk. However, our forest climbing parks set nationwide standards in terms of safety – since 2011, we have been using a new type of safety system that makes it virtually impossible to unclip while climbing. Our plant meets the highest safety requirements according to DIN EN 15567. You will also be looked after by a team of climbing experts and sports scientists, of whose excellent training we are particularly proud. That is why a visit to our forest climbing parks is no more risky than a bike ride.

Who is not allowed to climb?

• Children under 105 cm tall.
• People weighing more than 130 kilos.
• People under the influence of alcohol (drinking alcohol before climbing is strictly forbidden!) or drugs.
• Persons who do not follow the instructions of our staff (these persons can be expelled from the climbing park even during climbing and are not entitled to a refund of the entrance fee).
• People with physical or mental disabilities. However, we offer them a supervised climbing opportunity in the children’s course with continuous safety. Please enquire with our central booking hotline.

In principle, we reserve the right not to allow people to climb in our forest climbing parks if we consider this to be a safety risk for the person themselves or other climbing guests.

Can children actually climb?

Yes, already from 105 cm height the kids can use the large children’s area with 5 climbing rounds, 5 ropeways and a 100 meter single ropeway. From 140 cm height the kids can already climb through the whole adventure area.

Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when climbing. One adult can take care of 2 kids.

Children ages 6-13 must be accompanied by an adult on the ground. One adult can take care of 10 children (special rules for school classes). In the adventure course must be accompanied climbing up to and including the age of 11.

From the age of 14, teenagers are allowed to climb completely free and visit our park on their own.

How can I pay?

You can pay on the spot in cash or by card. If you wish to pay by invoice, please email us in advance at info@wald-abenteuer.de with your full billing address.

Does each companion have to pay?

No, unlike in classic amusement parks, only those who climb pay. Accompanying persons can accompany the climbers from the ground free of charge, take photos, etc. Accompanying persons of school classes (max. 1 per 10 pupils) and disabled climbers do not pay an entrance fee (Attention: in case of disabilities you must absolutely consult us in advance).

Do I have to book in advance?

Pre-booking of admission places is compulsory. You can reserve at any time, free of charge and without obligation: simply click here, only available places on opening days will be displayed. You will receive a booking confirmation by email immediately. Payment is made on the spot. You are also welcome to use our booking hotline (0221 98 25 6000).

When do I need the registration forms?

Before climbing, all climbers must fill out a participation form and thereby declare their agreement with the general terms and conditions of the climbing park. To save time, you can download the registration forms and forward them to all participants in advance to read and complete. You can of course also fill in the registration forms on site.

School classes and clubs can fill out their own registration form and bring a list of names. This saves you having to have each participant fill out an individual form.

Why do I have to be there 20 minutes before my briefing time?

Your booked instruction time will be forfeited or passed on to other visitors if you do not arrive completely ready for the instruction start. Keep in mind that there may be a small line at the box office, you will still need to fill out sign-in sheets, pay, take off jewelry, lock/stow things, and possibly go to the restroom.

Do you offer discounts?

We offer discounts on our standard rates for groups of 15 or more, families, students, pupils and trainees. Some of the discounts only apply during the week. For exact prices, please refer to our online quote. Also, every year around Christmas you can get our vouchers for 20% off in the voucher store.

How to book for clubs, companies or school classes?

For these groups we offer special programs. Please have a look at the categories on the homepage and send us a request by e-mail. School groups pay much less than the normal price, you can find the current prices here.

Is it possible to celebrate a birthday on site?

Of course, our climbing forests offer an ideal environment for a birthday party. We additionally offer special birthday programs. Simply click here for more information or contact us.

How can I get food on site?

Either bring your own food or use our climbing bistro “Das Baumhaus” and the associated beer garden.

Can I come with a dog?

Of course! Accompanying persons who do not climb can lead the dog on a leash through the entire forest climbing park. Again and again you will find “playmates” to romp around with on our grounds.

What if the weather is bad?

Our guests are not even impressed by a rain shower. Rain or a light wind will not affect your climbing fun in any way. Just adjust your clothing to the weather conditions. In case of thunderstorms or storms we have to close the facility for safety reasons. If you are unable to continue climbing due to weather conditions, you will be refunded your entrance fee or vouchers for another day, depending on the situation. Our team on site decides situationally in your favour.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, only appropriate “outdoor clothing” is required, the entire climbing equipment is provided by us. Sturdy shoes (sneakers with a treaded sole are especially recommended), clothes in which you can move and which may also get dirty, as well as a rain jacket in case of rain are useful.

Do I need gloves?

Theoretically, you do not need gloves. You do not have to hold on to steel cables or brake on cable cars. Of course, if you want, you can still bring some with you. For 3,00 € you are welcome to buy some on site.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

We do not make helmets compulsory. Own helmets or bicycle helmets are also not allowed.

The subject of mandatory helmets is (unfortunately) often misunderstood. Here, there is a trade-off between (1) without a helmet: risk of minor bruising to the forehead and head, and (2) with a helmet: risk of strangulation (hanging from the helmet buckle). Unfortunately, cases are known, including with fatal consequences. That is why, after careful consideration, our safety concept does not include helmets. We are far from being the only climbing park that follows this principle, which is in line with the leading doctrine in safety circles. Unlike in sport climbing, where helmets are indispensable as protection against falling rocks, there is no comparable danger in our forest.

Can I wear my glasses?

Absolutely, you are welcome to climb with goggles before you can’t see the wood for the trees.

Can I climb with an action camera?

Yes, but not attached to a helmet but with a head or chest strap.

Normal cameras can also be taken on the course, if they are secured to the body in such a way that they cannot fall off.

Can I bring my own belt?

No, they are only allowed to climb with our harnesses, because they are checked regularly and we use special belay systems.

Are there lockers on site?

Yes, we offer free lockers on site (€1 required to lock). On request, our staff will also provide you with free fanny packs in which you can store any items you wish to carry with you when climbing.

Are there any cancellation fees?

On regular opening days, no no-show fees apply (exception: for groups of 15 or more, the cancellation fees listed below apply).

For Special openings (i.e. dates on days that are not included in our Opening calendar are marked in yellow) the following cancellation conditions apply: up to 48h before the appointment can be canceled free of charge; for cancellations between 24 and 48 hours before the appointment, a cancellation fee of 50% is due; for cancellations less than 24 hours before the appointment, a fee of 100% is due. This also applies if the number of participants deviates by 15% or more downwards.

How does the entrance fee come about?

In conventional high ropes courses, a single guest pays between €30 and €50 for a three-hour programme. A climbing forest like ours, on the other hand, can offer a much lower price due to simple self-securing techniques and higher utilization. Nevertheless, a climbing forest remains a very supervision-intensive leisure activity and cannot be compared with a visit to a swimming pool. Moreover, the construction of the facility and the equipment for the participants was not done at the expense of safety. Please take into account that from the beginning of November until the end of March, no income is generated and our meanwhile large team of permanent employees must also be paid in winter.

In the time since 2015, we have only increased our prices by €1. In spite of the constant expansion of our park, the conversion to the most modern safety systems, fair payment of our employees, and much more. In recent seasons, we have had to increase our prices slightly. At the same time, we are also increasing our discounts for families, schoolchildren, students and trainees so that as many people as possible can continue to afford to visit us. In addition, we maintain many cooperations, provide numerous free vouchers to social institutions and continue to offer very reasonable school class rates.

Why is the forest climbing park in Velbert-Langenberg so special?

Our forest climbing park offers numerous highlights that make your experience with us truly unique and also clearly distinguish us from other parks:

• In the forest climbing park at the Bismarck Tower in Velbert-Langenberg you will find long ropeways (one of which crosses the picnic meadow) as well as Germany’s first children’s course, which was approved in 2009 in accordance with the playground standard. For the first time, kids as tall as 105 cm can climb to heights of up to 10 meters – as safely as climbing 1 meter above the ground.

Do you offer vegetarian and vegan dishes?

Almost all dishes are also available as a vegetarian option. We always have at least one vegan option on the menu, but we cannot guarantee that it does not contain any traces of dairy products or meat at all. Cappuccino, latte macchiato and the like are also available with soy milk.

I am allergic, can I eat in the tree house?

The list of additives and allergens is always available at the counter. In case of severe allergies, please inform us before ordering, because we cannot always guarantee that our dishes are 100% free from any trace of possible allergens.

Can I reserve a table?

No. Unfortunately, we cannot make reservations during normal park operations. Only guests who have booked the birthday carefree package have reserved seats in our birthday tent. If you would like to dine with us with a larger group, please let us know anyway. After lunch time, we may be able to reserve you a table in the beer garden.

Why do I have to be there 20 minutes before my briefing time?

Your booked induction time will be forfeited or passed on to other visitors if you do not turn up completely ready for the induction start. Keep in mind that there may be a small line at the box office, you will still need to fill out sign-in sheets, pay, take off jewelry, lock/stow things, and possibly go to the restroom.

Do you offer discounts?

We offer discounts on our standard rates for groups of 15 or more, families, students, pupils and trainees. Some of the discounts only apply during the week. For exact prices, please refer to our online quote. Also, every year around Christmas you can get our vouchers for 20% off in the voucher store.

How to book for clubs, companies or school classes?

For these groups we offer special programs. Please have a look at the categories on the homepage and send us a request by e-mail. School groups pay much less than the normal price, you can find the current prices here.

Is it possible to celebrate a birthday on site?

Of course, our climbing forests offer an ideal environment for a birthday party. We additionally offer special birthday programs. Simply click here for more information or contact us.

How can I get food on site?

You can either bring your own food or use the restaurant at Landal Park.

Can I come with a dog?

Of course! Accompanying persons who do not climb can lead the dog on a leash through the entire forest climbing park. Again and again you will find “playmates” to romp around with on our grounds.

What if the weather is bad?

Our guests are not even impressed by a rain shower. Rain or a light wind will not affect your climbing fun in any way. Just adjust your clothing to the weather conditions. In case of thunderstorms or storms we have to close the facility for safety reasons. If you are unable to continue climbing due to weather conditions, you will be refunded your entrance fee or vouchers for another day, depending on the situation. Our employees on site decide situationally in your favour.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, only appropriate “outdoor clothing” is required, the entire climbing equipment is provided by us. Sturdy shoes (sneakers with a treaded sole are especially recommended), clothes in which you can move and which may also get dirty, as well as a rain jacket in case of rain are useful.

Do I need gloves?

Theoretically, you do not need gloves. You do not have to hold on to steel cables or brake on cable cars. Of course, if you want, you can still bring some with you. For 3,00 € you are welcome to buy some on site.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

We do not make helmets compulsory. Own helmets or bicycle helmets are also not allowed.

The subject of mandatory helmets is (unfortunately) often misunderstood. Here, there is a trade-off between (1) without a helmet: risk of minor bruising to the forehead and head, and (2) with a helmet: risk of strangulation (hanging from the helmet buckle). Unfortunately, cases are known, including with fatal consequences. That is why, after careful consideration, our safety concept does not include helmets. We are far from being the only climbing park that follows this principle, which is in line with the leading doctrine in safety circles. Unlike in sport climbing, where helmets are indispensable as protection against falling rocks, there is no comparable danger in our forest.

Can I wear my glasses?

Absolutely, you are welcome to climb with goggles before you can’t see the wood for the trees.

Can I climb with an action camera?

Yes, but not attached to a helmet but with a head or chest strap.

Normal cameras can also be taken on the course, if they are secured to the body in such a way that they cannot fall off.

Can I bring my own belt?

No, they are only allowed to climb with our harnesses, because they are checked regularly and we use special belay systems.

Are there lockers on site?

No, but we have free fanny packs ready for you. You are welcome to stow your valuables there and carry them with you while climbing. It’s best to leave the rest of your stuff in the car.

Are there any cancellation fees?

On regular opening days, no no-show fees apply (exception: for groups of 15 or more, the cancellation fees listed below apply).

For Special openings (i.e. dates on days that are not included in our Opening calendar are marked in yellow) the following cancellation conditions apply: up to 48h before the appointment can be canceled free of charge; for cancellations between 24 and 48 hours before the appointment, a cancellation fee of 50% is due; for cancellations less than 24 hours before the appointment, a fee of 100% is due. This also applies if the number of participants deviates by 15% or more downwards.

How does the entrance fee come about?

In conventional high ropes courses, a single guest pays between €30 and €50 for a three-hour programme. A climbing forest like ours, on the other hand, can offer a much lower price due to simple self-securing techniques and higher utilization. Nevertheless, a climbing forest remains a very supervision-intensive leisure activity and cannot be compared with a visit to a swimming pool. Moreover, no savings were made at the expense of safety in the construction of the facility and the equipment for the participants. Please take into account that from the beginning of November until the end of March, no income is generated and our meanwhile large team of permanent employees must also be paid in winter.

In recent seasons, we have had to increase our prices slightly. At the same time, we are also increasing our discounts for families, schoolchildren, students and trainees so that as many people as possible can continue to afford to visit us. In addition, we maintain many cooperations, provide numerous free vouchers to social institutions and continue to offer very reasonable school class rates.
